What is the difference between laparoscopy endoscopy & videosurgery?
Laparoscopy refers to examination and surgical procedures of the abdomen utilizing a minute telescope. Endoscopy is the use of small telescopes to examine body cavities and /or joints. Videosurgery is any procedure using a tiny telescope with a camera attached that sends images to a viewing screen.

How do I know if my knee/shoulder injury can be taken care of at an outpatient sugery center?
After an examination and diagnosis by an orthopedic surgeon, you'll know the extent of your injury and if it will require hospitalization.

What is arthroscopy?
Arthroscopy is the examination, diagnosis and treatment of joint diseases and injuries using a small telescope which projects images to a viewing screen.

What are the most important things to know about my surgeon?
You should ask whether your surgeon is Board Certified in his specialty, and whether there have been any complaints made to the American Medical Association about the surgeon. You should also find out how many times he or she has performed this procedure in the past year.

How do I arrange to have my surgery at LAKE TAHOE SURGERY CENTER?
As long as your physician has privileges to operate at our facility, his office staff can make all arrangements and get you in contact with the appropriate people to obtain the necessary forms.

Will my insurance pay for my surgery?
We accept many insurance plans, and, as a courtesy to you, we are happy to file your claims to your insurance company.

Why should I have my surgery at an outpatient surgery center rather than a large hospital?

Each patient and their family receive information and support which helps ensure comfort and speedy recovery after leaving the surgery center.

Will I meet my anesthesiologist before surgery?
Yes, the anesthesiologist will speak with you and your family prior to surgery to help you decide what type of anesthesia is most appropriate for you, and to answer all your questions regarding anesthesia.

How will I feel after anesthesia?
This varies from patient to patient. Usually you will feel sedated. Our -anesthesiologists ensure that your pain is well controlled and that you are comfortable.

How long will it take before I'm back to normal activities?
Recovery time varies with each patient and the type of procedure performed. Usually you may return to work in one week or less.

Visitors are allowed to come and go as they wish as long as there is no disruption to other patients.
